'The first generation of TFT flat-panel monitors were not able to support the graphical complexity and level of features we demand for our colour solutions.' commented George Leptos, UK Branch Manager, LaCie. 'We did not want to enter the market until we could provide a flat panel monitor that delivers the true colour representation and precise control which are delivered throughout our range of monitors. The Photon18blue offers all the advanced features and capabilities customers expect from our display products and we are in a position to offer it at an attractive price.'
The TFT monitor has a foot design that enables screen height, tilt and swivel adjustments while the pivoting feature allows users to quickly toggle between portrait and landscape modes. The monitor provides a 160 degree viewing angle (left-to-right and up and down) and an 80 degree viewing angle from the centre, that permits multiple users to view the screen. This feature is unusual for a flat screen technology and makes the Photon18blue a more flexible choice for individual users who may not wish to sit directly in front of the monitor. The flat screen is designed to represent images exactly as they will appear when printed on flat paper. Reduction in eyestrain and light reflection is achieved when using LaCie's dark blue casing that improves the picture contrast and helps the eyes focus on the screen.
Weighing just over eight kilos and measuring 23cm deep, the Photon18blue is ideal for design professionals who have space and weight constraints. It can also be removed from its standard base to be flush-mounted on a wall or on an articulating arm.
The natural colour matrix provides graphic and design professionals with complete colour control. Even a single colour can be adjusted without affecting the hues of other colours. The TFT display supports the international RGB colour reproduction standard that was established to provide a clearly defined, uniform and rich colour environment for true colour capture and presentation. Preserving the screens white balance, Photon18blue users can independently control red, green, blue, cyan, magenta and yellow.
The Photon18blue is the first TFT (thin film transistor) monitor equipped with a colour-enhancing hood therefore, undesirable light reflection and shadows are reduced to almost nothing, the hood can be used in both portrait and landscape mode. In addition to standard brightness, contrast and image position controls, the photon18blue provides onscreen controls that put screen, colour and multimedia control in the hands of the user. For mainstream applications, users can select lower resolutions that are more appropriate for applications such as Word, Excel and Web browsers.
