Leica has announced a new Titanium Special Edition of the Leica D-Lux 5, Leica's version of the Panasonic Lumix LX5, the camera comes with Adobe Lightroom 3, matching leather case, and extended warranty. The camera is priced at £855 and should be available now. For more details visit Leica's website.

From Leica: "The new Leica D-Lux 5 Titanium is the camera for people who wish to capture their inspiration in a particularly stylish way. The limited edition unites quintessence of style with the refined elegance of titanium. But its inner values show that beauty is not only skin deep: its fast Leica DC Vario-Summicron lens (24-90 mm equivalent in 35 mm) ensures excellent imaging quality and covers a wide range of photographic genres, from architecture to available-light photography, while its manual setting options and accessories guarantee photographers even greater creative freedom. This makes the Leica D-Lux 5 Titanium the ideal camera for people who love to discover inspiring moments when exploring the greatest cities in the world."

I reckon that Leica is now simply one bloke employed by Panasonic. He has a small office in their factory

He has three main tasks.

First, remove the Panasonic logo and stick on a Leica one.

Second, knock up some quick marketing bull***t - ""For people who wish to capture their inspiration in a particularly stylish way". "But its inner values show that beauty is not only skin deep".

Third, pitch the price as high as you can while keeping a straight face.

In my view the Leica D-Lux5 Titanium is "a fantasy of feather weight creativity, titanium and talent, lens and form combined, an immaculate conception committed to pictorial purity" Grin

Total agreement.....LOL...Grin

But would it stop a 9mm high velocity rifle bullet, If yes that might justify its existance, Otherwise its an in your face waste of exotic materials to cover up the fact that its no better image quality wise than a Panasonic sample.

You don't need to write to Santa! It's the same as the Panasonic LX3 / LX5 just re-badged! And re-priced.
