The new Leica Digital adapter from Leica Camera AG, Solms enables the unique combination of the high-performance spotting scopes LEICA TELEVID 77 and LEICA TELEVID 62 with the new LEICA DIGILUX 1 digital camera. The adapter has a screw fastening to ensure fast and secure attachment of the camera to the zoom eyepiece of the scopes. On discovering an object of interest, the nature watcher can mount the camera onto the eyepiece with the aid of the digital adapter and capture what he sees on a circular photo simply by pressing a button. The large 2.5 monitor of the camera is excellent for assessing picture area and composition. It also enables several people to look at the image together. Using the LEICA TELEVID 77 and the zoom eyepiece, there is a total focal length of up to 2,000mm even for the 20x magnification, corresponding to the 35mm camera system.
Besides widening the application potential of the two Leica products for ornithologists and hunters, this interesting combination will be appreciated for many photographic situations as well, as the unusually large focal length can otherwise only be attained with expensive special telephoto lenses.
The new Leica Digital adapter will be on sale at Leica stockists' from May 2002.
