LightBulbs Direct, the Internet-based light bulb specialists, have a fantastic offer for designers and photographers to ensure the best possible lighting conditions for their work and help banish those winter blues. The company are offering big discounts on all Activa range of full spectrum colour balanced daylight fluorescent tubes until the end of November.

As LightBulbs Direct Managing Director Patrick Hudgell explains Designers, artists and photographers all understand the benefits of working in real daylight, yet very few have that luxury and many are forced to work in less than perfect lighting, particularly in the winter months. Conventional fluorescent tubes emit a very yellow light which gives extremely poor colour rendering and can often result in bad colour matching, eye strain and problems in discerning fine detail. Lack of sunlight through the winter months can also lead to Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) the so called winter blues.

The Activa range of fluorescent tubes counters all these problems by using a special balance of phosphors to provide the best possible simulation for real daylight. Like all types of daylight bulbs, the Activa tubes have a very high colour temperature (in this case 6500K) to give a much whiter light than normal bulbs and tubes. Unlike other daylight tubes, however, Activa tubes give a far more evenly balanced light across the whole spectrum providing an excellent simulation of real daylight. Where normal white fluorescent tubes have a colour rendering index* (Ra) of about 50, Activa tubes have an astonishingly high Ra of 98 as close to real daylight as you can get.

To make these even closer to real daylight, Activa tubes also give off a tiny amount of UV. This, along with the full spectrum light output is a real benefit to both physical and psychological wellbeing and helps counter the effects of SAD.

Activa tubes range from 10.85 to 17.95 each plus VAT and can be ordered from LightBulbs Direct on 01494-723286. Artists, photographers and designers quoting reference Q966 will get an extra 10% discount off Lightbulb Directs already discounted prices on all Activa tubes until 30th November 2004. Further details of the Activa range and hundreds of other bulbs, lamps and tubes, which are available at up to 70% off retail prices, on the companys web site at www.lightbulbs-direct.com

NOTE: * Colour rendering index (Ra) is a measure of ability to identify colours correctly using a particular light source. Natural sunlight has an Ra of 100 whereas monochromatic light has an Ra of 1.

Activa tubes have an Ra of 98 whereas standard daylight fluorescent tubes (colour 154) have an Ra of around 75.
