Get down and dirty - Ian Badley tells us why getting dirt on our knees isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Ian Badley was born in 1957 in Southampton, England and lives with his wife Julia in of the New Forest, Hampshire and has two, twenty plus year old daughters. He first took up photography seriously in the late 1970’s using Olympus cameras photographing motorsport and now his professional career includes travel photography and photographic workshops. Ian runs Photographic Workshops around the UK and Europe including the New Forest, Dorset, Isle of Wight, Jersey, Italy and ‘One to One’ sessions together with PhotoTreks designed for beginners and improvers in the New Forest and surrounding areas. His work has sold around the world in travel guides, books, calendars, etc as well as the UK and has been used on BBC news items, national newspapers and in numerous magazines. Here's his tip:
"All too often you are out walking, come over a hill and see a magnificent view. Out comes the camera – click, click, click, image recorded. But what view will you see if you move to the left 150 meters, or move to the other side of that tree? Often if you do, the scene is even better. Don’t forget, everyone else will probably have walked over the same hill as you, seen the same scene and taken the same image.
