It's the middle of summer in Patagonia, but an icy wind still whistles around Cerro Torre, a narrow mountain of granite rising out of an adjacent glacier and topped with a dangerous layer of ice. As Alan Mullin attempts to scale the 3000m East Face though, the last thing he needs to worry about is the safety of his camera. He'll be carrying Lowepro gear.

Alan explains, "The East Face has seen some of the best alpine climbers in the world but has yet to be climbed. I attempted it last season but a member of the team had an accident and broke his ankle badly. This season I am returning with Kevin Thaw and we hope to succeed alpine style - lightweight and fast!"

"This is undoubtedly one of the greatest routes in South American climbing. With Lowepro protecting my camera, I hope to get some radical shots."

Alan will be carrying the Rover Light bag and AF2 pouch. The Rover is designed as a two-part rucksack, with the top section acting as a day sack. The bottom section has removable padded inserts, which can be arranged to hold a variety of equipment. A large padded insert secured to the inside of the bag divides the sections, and the padding in the camera section is sturdy enough to offer great protection for your equipment.

On the outside, the Rover has a number of useful pockets and also a tripod holder with ties at top and bottom to hold it in place. Padded shoulder and waist belt complete the package, with perforations to enhance breathability when wearing the pack for long periods of time. Street & Field loops on the belt make it easy to attach other useful SlipLock accessories to the bag, such as the Bottle Bag or Lens Case series.

The AF2 pouch features a quick release shoulder strap, which converts to a belt offering a choice of wearing it on the shoulder or the waist. This small pouch also boasts a water resistant rain flap to protect its contents from the weather.

"Lowepro bags are made to be taken on adventures," explains Lowepro Product Manager, Andy Bennett. "It's a pleasure to be able to supply the bags to Alan. We wish him the best of luck and look forward to seeing the photos when he returns."
