Luminance iOS App Performance

The app has a very easy to use interface, with a near blank screen appearing when you first load it up. The first thing to do is add your photos that you would like to edit, however you can only add one photo at a time. When ou've finished adding images, simply press the thumbnail to start editing. Here you have four editing options along the top. The first option is FX, with examples of each below.

The next option allows the option to add filters (white-balance, exposure, brightness/contrast, tone curve and colours) and effects (sepia, split toning and vignette). Each has a sliding scale to adjust to your preferred style. The third option is cropping and rotating, with a number of ratios and 90° rotating available. The fourth and final option shows you all the editing stages you have gone through, you can select one to go back to and amend.

Other buttons available include library, undo, edits and share. The edits button allows you to copy what you have done to your photo to apply the very same edits to another. When tested, this didn't include any crops you have made so it is best to do these before pasting the edits in. Sharing gives you the option to upload to Facebook, Tweet via Lumipics, save to camera roll, email and copy.

Luminance iOS App Verdict

The Luminance iOS app isn't the most feature packed, but what it does do, it does well. The ability to go back to other images and continue editing, rather than working on one at a time is extremely useful, particularly as you can copy the edits from one picture and apply them to another. There are a few minor niggles which would make the app even better, such as the lack of image sharpening, which appears on many other apps and the ability to import more than one image at a time to your library would save time for most users. Overall, you can't go wrong for £0.69.

The Luminance app is easy to use and extremely good value for money.
