Manfrotto Klyp+ Deluxe Photo Kit Handling

To fit the case to your iPhone you simply need to push it on - it's a tight squeeze and is very easy to catch the volume switch when fitting and removing. The case doesn't add much size to the phone, so it's still quite comfortable in your pocket.

Once fitted, you can put any of the three lenses on by simply screwing them into place. Each of the lenses have fiddly caps on each end to keep them clean. The lenses have either fisheye, portrait or landscape written on its side - this is covered up by the lens cap, so you may find you're removing the caps and looking at each one to find the lens you want. All the lenses fit into the small bag provided.

The LED light has a rechargeable battery, which is charged by using the small USB adapter provided. To switch the light on you press and hold the on / off button on the side. You can then press to button to increase the strength of the lights, with three different options available. The light is either on or off, it isn't activated when taking a shot, as you would find when using a camera. The tripod mount can be attached to the LED light for safe storage.

Manfrotto Klyp+ Deluxe Photo Kit Performance

We have taken a number of shots with the lens and flash using an iPhone 5, and will take each one in turn and assess the quality of images produced.

Portrait lens - the iPhone 5 has a 35mm equivalent of 33mm, not ideal for portrait photography, but using the portrait lens, the 35mm equivalent becomes just short of 50mm - much better for flattering portrait shots. Image quality is reasonably good when using the portrait lens.

Landscape lens - the 33mm equivalent when using the landscape lens becomes 22mm, an ideal focal length for landscape photography. Unfortunately image quality suffers around the edges of the images.

Fisheye lens - this gives a very wide 9mm equivalent focal length, although image quality is quite poor, its good fun for unique pictures.

LED light - the LED light is capable of lighting a dull scene much better than the built-in iPhone flash. Skin tones are OK, but you will probably find your subject is blinded by the bright lights.

Manfrotto Klyp+ Deluxe Photo Kit Verdict

The Manfrotto Klyp+ Deluxe Photo Kit, although quite expensive, is a product that will carry some appeal for serious iPhoneographers. The lenses give a good range of focal lengths, particularly the portrait and landscape lens, as they are common types of photography, with the 33mm equivalent lens on the iPhone 5 not particularly suited for either type. The flash is compact and very bright - a little too bright as your subjects will tell you when taking portraits.
