Microtek ship Silverfast 6 with their scanner range

Microtek have announced that they are the first scanner manufacturer to bundle LaserSoft SilverFast 6 with its scanner range. SilverFast 6 SRD has an advanced scratch and dust removal function that provides users with the capability to easily remove dust and scratches from images either during scanning or from scanned raw data files.

Microtek have managed to secure an important commitment that LaserSoft will fulfill free upgrades to version 6, via internet download, for all Microtek scanners sold to the consumer from July 1st 2002.

For all those scanners sold prior to this date, the upgrade from SilverFast 5.X to version 6 can can be purchased on line from www.silverfast.com at a cost of 65 US dollars.

Unlike other scratch and dust removal products, SilverFast SRD works with black and white images as well as colour image files. A real-time preview allows users to determine the best possible setting for removing scratch and dust.SilverFast SRD also includes ACR, Adaptive Colour Restoration, to restore faded or normalise over-saturated colours; Selective Colour Correction with Multi-Layers and Masking for handling complex images; SilverFast SC2G, a sophisticated function for converting colour images to greyscale and SilverFast GANE, a tool for eliminating grain and noise while preserving image detail.

Silverfast v 6 is available for most Microtek scanners, including an optional upgrade for the FilmScan 1800 and shipping as standard with Microtek FilmScan 3600. SilverFast SRD is fully compatible with Macintosh OS X (version10.1.3 or above).
