I am now into the second week of the My Photo School course I'm enrolled in.

MyPhotoSchool Lesson 2

I received my feedback through a detailed email from my tutor. My feedback for last week was mostly good, although my tutor, Sue Bishop, gave me some helpful tips to improve my photography even more. For example, she really liked the image below, however thought that it could be improved by letting the viewer see the bottom of the sign post, as it can be unsettling for the viewer if they can't see this aspect of the image. I'll bear that in mind for next time.

I can email Sue through My Photo School at any time if I have any questions at all, and she's more than happy to help out. In fact, the whole team are extremely efficient and helpful. I had some problems viewing my tutorial video over the weekend and all I had to do was write in the forum that I was having trouble and the issue was fixed.

This week, my lesson was all about light. In the 20 minute tutorial video, Sue explained how different kinds of light and the direction of light can effect an image. Harsh lighting from the side can enhance the shape of buildings and objects, whilst softer light from the back of the image can create a flat feel to a photo.

My tasks this week were to take one photo using side light to emphasise shape, one photo using front or back lighting, and one photo using a softer less harsh light. Luckily I got out and took some shots while it was sunny early this week, as the weather has not been too good recently for lighting shots! Here's one of the images I submitted:

Look out for Week 3's article to see how I got on with my feedback for this week's tasks.
