 New Camera Design Sketches

Sketches of the design show the camera is the world's first with built in tripod, the innovative design has three tripod legs that slide to the middle of the camera providing a firm foundation where-ever you take the camera. The designer hopes that a manufacturer will partner with him on the design of the camera to make the camera a reality. At the moment he has started development of a non-working prototype and hopes that involvement with a camera manufacturer will enable the development of an extending tripod system.

Suggested Prototype Specifications:
  • 10 megapixel BSI CMOS sensor
  • 35mm equivalent lens, f/2.4
  • Lens ring for adapters
  • Large 3inch screen
  • Built in tripod - Worlds first!
  • Metal strap loops
  • Flash hot-shoe
  • Large optical viewfinder
  • AF illuminator
  • Built in flash
  • Side battery / memory compartment
  • Stereo Mic for Video
  • Electronic spirit level
The camera has built in metal strap loops, enabling the use of full size SLR straps such as the ePHOTOzine padded strap. It also features an optical viewfinder, flash hot-shoe, screw mount adapters on the fixed 35mm equivalent lens, and the plan is to make full advantage of the built in tripod with the inclusion of an electronic spirit level, and optional wide, fish-eye, and telephoto converters. The telephoto converters would enable the camera to be used for bird spotting.

If you would be interested in giving your feedback to the developer please leave a comment, or alternatively if you want to work with him on manufacturing the camera, then please get in touch and we can pass on your details.

In fact I think for a compact type camera that is quite a good idea !

Like the wheels on an aeroplane, folded up whilst flying, dropped down for support on the ground.

Might've believed it if it weren't for the blatant advert for the ePhotozine camera strap in the middle!!! Grin

Apparently though, according to an e-mail from Jessops this morning, you can get a camera that also saves the aroma of the scene you're photographying... Now that could be a winner!

Nice try - had me hooked for a nanosecond! What about some picture modes - one titled TR (total rubbish) would be good for some!

This is not what photographers want! It is not the way to go.

What we need is a tripod with a built in camera.
