As smartphones continue to produce images of better quality, more people are taking a series look at the cameras built in to their phones and are using them to take photos they'd usually pick up their digital camera for. The bundles feature an iPhone Tripod Adapter, which has a ¼-20 female tripod socket which can be fixed to most tripods, and a Flip-Cage – a table-top platform that your phone can be locked in to. There is not a special of $32.95 for the bundle pack, at least as of Oct 25th am. Did Fong decide to not to offer the special after the article? From what I've seen with all the iPhone tripod mounts, this looks simple and more secure than some, like the glif. I'd buy the bundle but only at the price as listed above. Too bad for me 
I have a GorillaPod iPhone tripod. That works quite well, and also doubles as a case. Plus the tripod comes with an adaptor so that you can use it with your compact cam as well ( at least you can if you don't lose it as I seem to have done ).
It's also quite small and discreet...
