Nikon sponsor exhibition that captures Carol McGregor’s life changing trip to Bangladesh - A showcase of Ian Rutherford’s award winning photographs
Nikon are sponsoring an exhibition showcasing Ian Rutherford’s award winning photographs of Carol McGregor witnessing life-transforming charity work in Bangladesh.
Carol McGregor, 2001 Scot of the Year’ and mother of Ewan, went to witness the work of charity Sight Savers International and found the whole experience “life-changing” and highly inspiring.
The exhibition depicts Sight Savers’ work restoring sight, preventing blindness and helping those who will never see have better lives in Bangladesh, one of the 32 countries in which it operates.
“The work Sight Savers does is so important. I can’t begin to say how impressed I was,” says Carol McGregor. “I’m usually an emotional person but I don’t think I’ve ever cried so much as I did that week,” she adds.
Jakki Moores, Head of Nikon Professional Services added, “Sight Savers do a fantastic job, when we heard about the project we were very keen to get involved and show our support.”
Scotsman photographer Ian Rutherford accompanied Carol McGregor to Bangladesh then returned a few months later as part of an appeal drive by The Scotsman for Sight Savers. Ian’s photographs won the prestigious award for best photo essay, judged by UK picture editors of national newspapers using the Nikon D1X.
The Visions of Hope exhibition, sponsored by Lloyds TSB Scotland, Scotland on Sunday, The Scotsman and Nikon UK, will be shown at the following venues:
