Nikon UK is pleased to announce an exciting new partnership with Virgin Media for the UK’s biggest short film competition Virgin Media Shorts - supporting undiscovered talent and helping emerging film makers break into the industry.
The competition starts today (18 April 2013) until 18 July 2013, giving entrants three months to prepare a short film that could potentially win the Grand Prize of £30,000 funding towards their next film, plus money-can’t-buy expert mentoring from the UK’s leading film body, the British Film Institute.
A panel of industry greats will whittle down the shortlist of 12 entries, plus the 'lucky 13' spot as voted for by the public, to unearth the overall Grand Prize winner. The public will also have a chance to air their views and vote for their favourite short in the 'People’s Choice' category, sponsored by Nikon.
Jeremy Gilbert, Group Marketing Manager at Nikon UK comments: "Virgin Media Shorts is a great platform to showcase the work of emerging film makers, whether they have just started out or have lots of experience in film making. To have your work showcased at national cinemas is a fantastic experience, let alone to win £30,000 funding towards your next film and get access to some of the best names in the industry through the BFI."
He adds: "As an imaging company, we’re delighted to help raise the profile of grass roots film makers and their impressive works and look forward to seeing who is voted the Nikon People’s Choice."
The winner of the Nikon People’s Choice Award will win £5000 of Nikon equipment, to be used for their next film.
