Press Release: Nikon top sales in Japanese market

The success of Nikon during the first half of 2007 is thought to be largely due to the popularity of the D40 model. According to the report, printed this week in the Asahi Simbun, Nikon have clinched a 47.5 percent share of the market remaining at the top over a half year period, while Canon secured only a 36.5 percent share of the market in that time. While Nikon have achieved tops sales on a monthly basis in the past, it is said to be the first time they have held the position over half a year, a status thought to have been achieved by Nikon's low prices in comparison to some other models.
