e3Press Release:

Olympus has picked up two impressive titles at the recent EISA Awards. The honour for the best “European Advanced Camera 2008-2009” went to the E-3 – the flagship in the Olympus D-SLR range whilst the best “European Ultra Compact Camera 2008-2009” was the waterproof and shockproof µ [mju:] 1030 SW from the Olympus Tough line-up. The awards are a further testimony to Olympus’ leading innovative strength.

Olympus E-3: “European Advanced Camera 2008-2009”
The EISA jury were clearly enthusiastic about awarding the Olympus flagship E-3 with the best “European Advanced Camera 2008-2009”: “It provides very effective image stabilisation, dust removal and a Live View function on the articulated LCD screen, but most importantly, its image quality and ease of use are very impressive”, said EISA, who also praised the camera’s robust build and splashproof qualities. The jury summed up by saying: “The Olympus E-3 is perfectly suited for professional demands”.

Olympus µ [mju:] 1030 SW: “European Ultra Compact Camera 2008-2009”

Waterproof to depths of 10m, shockproof against falls from 2m, freezeproof to -10°C and crushproof to 100kg, the compact µ [mju:] 1030 SW boasts ultra tough attributes matched with high image quality. EISA certainly took close note of these unique features and gave the camera the best “European Ultra Compact Camera 2008-2009” Award. The jury was won over by the combination of “good photographic performance with physical endurance”. Among its impressive features, EISA cited the µ [mju:] 1030 SW’s “excellent metering, the accurate colour rendering and the fact that it is the first camera to incorporate an internal zoom with a focal length starting at 28mm (equivalent)”. And the accolades kept coming: “The camera performs well even in low light and in high contrast conditions where other compact models usually overexpose the sky”.
