The Digital Imaging Website Association, DIWA, has confirmed the supremacy of Olympus’ PEN E-PL1 by awarding it the DIWA GOLD Award for best Advanced Digital System Camera. The award is further proof that PEN cameras really do offer discerning customers the best of two worlds: the image quality of D-SLRs and the convenience of digital compacts.
Professional image quality
As DIWA test manager Kai Thon noted, “With the PEN range, Olympus has proved that it is perfectly possible to combine the flexibility of system cameras and their professional image quality with a super-compact camera body. The Olympus E-PL1 also has the added versatility of a built-in flash and improved control functions.”
Awards in multiple categories
This autumn’s DIWA GOLD Award follows prestigious accolades given to the newest of the PEN range in the spring, including the TIPA Award 2010 for Entry-Level Compact System Camera and the red dot award for product design. The E-PL1 continues to impress jurors and photographers alike with its wide choice of Art Filter effects, interchangeable lenses and an optional lightning-quick, near-silent auto-focus that cuts out the noise that can otherwise spoil High Definition video footage.
The Digital Imaging Websites Association is a fast growing group of independent web-based specialist publications dedicated to digital imaging. Its industry awards command unparalleled confidence and value, for consumers and industry alike.
The E-PL1 is available from £379.99 (Body only) RRP. For more information please visit the Olympus
