Olympus is introducing two new compact cameras to its popular entry level TRIP series. The 35mm TRIP 500 and TRIP AF 50 offer fully automatic operation, precision Olympus optics, and a sleek, super-compact design.

These lightweight models make it easy for beginners to achieve great results, with features such as motorised film transport, built in flash and red-eye reduction. The TRIP high performance auto-focus system means point and shoot translates into great pictures every time.

The TRIP 500 and AF 50 use precision-crafted Olympus optics to ensure superior photo quality. Incorporating a wide-angle 28mm lens, the TRIP cameras are ideal for group photos. The TRIP 505 and AF 50 are equipped with a high-quality glass optical lens construction, for even sharper images.

The new TRIP cameras are compact and light, great for slipping in your bag for a day out, and easy to whip out whenever there's a photo opportunity. With smooth body lines and a smart metallic finish, these Olympus cameras combine slick looks with comfortable handling.

Both TRIPS offer fully automatic operation, with motorised film winding/rewinding and auto-flash in low light. The TRIP 500 and AF 50 feature a red-eye reduction lamp, to banish that alarming hellish twinkle from subjects' eyes.

Both models offer versatile flash modes. In addition to auto flash and red-eye reduction, the user can choose the fill-in mode. An option of turning the flash off entirely provides greater creative control.

Both models also features a large LCD panel on top of the camera which displays the frame number, battery check, flash mode and self-timer status. For users who are fed up of never being in their own photos, the TRIP 500 and AF50 feature an electronic self-timer with a 12 second delay.

Other features

* Quartzdate function for automatic date/time imprinting on each frame.
* ISO 100-400 auto film speed setting.
