Market for memory cards is moving up - The memory card market is on the up as more and more people need space to store photographs, music and documents.
With people needing to store more information and photographs it isn't surprising that the memory card market has seen good growth this year.
According to GFK Retail and Technology, sales in May were up by 31% compared with the same period last year.
Sales in May alone reached nearly one million, with most of the growth coming from the standard memory cards you find in cameras.
GFK say that 80% of all cards sold hold one or two Gb of memory and the average priced card is now £16, half the price of two years ago.
Prices online are still cheaper than those on the high street, with a 4Gb card selling online for half the price on the high street. In January one in four cards were sold online and the current market shows that 22% of the 2Gb market and 42% of the 4Gb cards were all sold on the Internet.
