The new addition to Panasonic’s S-series range of cameras encompasses everything the range was designed for - simple, smart and stylish.  Pursuing the ultimate ease of operation, essential functions are equipped in the DMC-S5 – ensuring both high ease of use and yet still high performance. With a curvaceous design, the S5 has distinct rounded edges – presenting a friendly and welcoming exterior.  Exclusively developed for users with limited experience of digital photography or for those looking for their first digital camera – the S5 will be a welcomed addition.

The 16.1-megapixel DMC-S5 packages a 28mm wide-angle LUMIX DC VARIO lens with 4x optical zoom (35mm camera equivalent: 28-112mm) into a compact body.  Comprising 6 elements in 5 groups, including 3 aspherical lenses with 5 aspherical surfaces, this advanced lens unit features an exceptional optical performance yet fitting in the slim body profile.  The 28mm wide angle lens is convenient for shooting group portraits, subjects indoor or dynamic landscapes.  For distant subjects, the Intelligent Zoom can be used for the extended magnification to 8x thanks to the newly integrated and enhanced Intelligent Resolution technology.



A high-speed, high-performance Venus Engine is incorporated at the heart of the camera to enable beautiful image recording with higher quality signal processing and a super-fast response time. The LUMIX’s Sonic Speed AF makes it easier to capture sudden, spur-of-the-moment photo opportunities.

Panasonic has incorporated the iA (Intelligent Auto) mode in pursuit of the ultimate ease of operation and the reduction of misshots. The MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) is integrated in the iA mode for the DMC-S5 to suppress hand-shake.  MEGA O.I.S. shifts the O.I.S. lens unit to offset jolts, resulting in clear, sharp images. In addition, Intelligent ISO Control, Intelligent Scene Selector and Face Detection automatically work for users to get the best result.

The iA mode makes the DMC-S5 the ultimate, super-versatile automatic camera for capturing clear, beautiful, mistake-free photos with ease.

For those moments when video recording is desired, the DMC-S5 delivers dynamic HD video in 1280 x 720p.  Users can enjoy high quality image playback that perfectly fits a wide-screen HDTV for full-screen viewing together with HD (High Definition) photos taken in 16:9 aspects.



The S5 features a number of user friendly features that add fun to the shooting options. Thanks to Panoramic Shot it’s easy to take panoramic photos with the S5.  With Auto Retouch, simply press a single button after shooting and the appropriate retouch is automatically performed without cumbersome adjustments.  Thanks to these features, users can effortlessly capture images to be proud of.

The S5 also includes LUMIX Image Uploader which offers an easy way of communication by uploading photos or videos to Facebook or YouTube to share them with family or friends without needing special software for PC. Designed to make sharing images as simple as possible, the LUMIX Image Uploader is perfect for keeping families and friends up-to-date with images effortlessly.
