Panasonic Lumix G 14 140mm II (3) (Custom)

Panasonic has introduced a new 14-140mm Micro Four Thirds zoom lens, that is more compact than the previous 14-140mm HD lens, as well as being brighter at both the wide-angle and telephoto ends of the lens. The closest focus distance has been improved and is now 30cm compared to 50cm on the older 14-140mm lens.

Key Features

  • Compact light weight 10x optical zoom lens
  • 14-140mm, 28-280mm equivalent
  • Power OIS (instead of Mega OIS on the older 14-140mm)
  • Ultra high speed and precise AF, supports 240fps drive speed
  • f/3.5-5.6 aperture
  • HD Movie support
  • Metal body

When the lens is fully extended, it's possible to see the new lens has a simpler construction, as well as being shorter than the previous model. Please note: sample photos shown below are taken with a pre-production version of the lens and may not represent final quality. I notice that it now takes a 58mm filter like the 12-35 and 35-100 f2.8 zooms. That's the kind of thoughtful design that I like and is often missed.

Integrated filter sizes can save a lot of money as well as cutting down on the load of equipment to be hauled around.

Incidentally, any thoughts on its performance compared to its predecessor?
