The lens features new Power Optical Image stabilisation, with improved image stabilisation down to 2hz, optimised for HD video with quiet focusing, zoom, manual focus, and zoom and manual focus controls on the side. The zoom has two speeds, both slow and fast.

We talk to Panasonic about the new Lumix X lens range, and future Lumix G developments.

Angle view, shown with the Panasonic Lumix GF3, the new lens gives the compact GF3 an ideal zoom lens, the lens will be available with the GF3 as a kit:

Not fully compatible with the GF-1 ? That's the deal breaker for me - bye bye Panny, Hello Oly 12mm & 45mm........

Wonderful: this definitely IS a "portable zoom". And adds a lot of attraction to the whole micro 4/3 system.
I just wonder: what is Sony waiting to develop something like this for the NEX cameras ????
Just imagine a powerful camera like the new NEX 7 with a "pocketable" 16-48 pancake zoom !!
That one I would buy straight away, and would finally justify the price-tag attached to the Nex7: a really pocketable, altough very powerful camera system.

You can't do it for the Nex because of the much bigger sensor.

Even a clever design like the Panasonic's would not make it pocketable.

I've just bought one of these and I'm so pleased with it....

To have such a tiny lens on my E-PL3 Olympus but it's a zoom, fantastic. The Performance is excellent, sharp and contrasty.
