New jacket from Páramo - New Torres Jacket joins the range of ground-breaking garments for staying warm & dry.
Press Release:The innovative Torres range from Páramo sees a new arrival this winter, adding to the options for all outdoor users to stay warm and dry in the cold and wet. Páramo have again pioneered the way forward in outdoor gear with their straightforward presentation of the overlayering concept. Overlayering provides a practical and superior alternative to the conventional layering approach to keeping warm outdoors, applicable to all outdoor enthusiasts and professionals - and the Torres garments offer a simple but radical way of achieving this easily. The addition of the new Torres Jacket with fully adjustable hood and insulated handwarming pockets offers a further choice to outdoor users, and is particularly aimed at hill walkers, nature lovers and outdoor workers.
From the beginning, Páramo have offered different solutions to outdoor challenges – whether it is more effectively removing perspiration that would chill the wearer to offering reversible base layers that are effectively two garments in one. Torres overlayers are such an innovation – a range of five garments that provide fast block insulation when needed with a speedy impact on whole body comfort. The moisture-repellent synthetic fill has a down-like feel and performance, delivering a high warmth-for-weight ratio that keep one warm even if wet. Garments prevent heat loss, increase insulation and add water resistance.
Torres overlayers allow rapid but simple ‘on the move’ temperature adjustment in situations where conventional mid layers are difficult and slow to use. Carrying a fleece to put on if one is cold is largely impractical – requiring one to extract the fleece from one’s pack, with it potentially becoming wet before one even dons it; it means removing one’s weatherproof outer, with exposure to the cold and wet, forfeiting any body heat. As a result, in such circumstances, individuals often struggle on rather than stop to put on extra insulation because of the hassle involved. Overlayering solves this dilemma, as Torres overlayers are simply taken out of the pack and worn over a waterproof, trapping body heat, keeping out the weather and working to insulate one even when wet or when worn over wet garments.
In developing the overlayering concept, designer Greg Care says, ‘Clearly the longer you can wear your clothing and the less you need to make changes the better. Páramo already offers a major advantage here because you can wear it 24 hours a day. Add overlayers and there is a huge gain in heat retention - no difficult changes or loss of insulation.’
The new Torres Jacket is an easily pulled on garment, generously sized to fit over an Analogy Jacket or Páramo windproof, with:
- Full front zip and simple cuffs making it easy to put on
- 133g moisture-repellent, synthetic fill
- Insulated adjustable hood
- Two insulated handwarming pockets
- Internal mesh storage
- Torres Smock with helmet compatible hood;
- Torres Gilet in a choice of weights and lengths;
- Torres Sleeves – a highly innovative design which recognises the crucial role the arms play in the body’s temperature control. The sleeves provide rapid insulation to support circulation to the hands, helping to maintain dexterity and are easy to pull on or off without removing a rucksack or harness;
- Torres Trousers with an innovative “zip on/ zip off’’’ construction which allows total removal or application without taking one’s feet off ground or needing to sit down;
- New Torres Jacket.
