Canon patent for Lens adapter apparatus and system

Canon's head of consumer imaging in Europe told Amateur Photographer that they don't need to introduce a mirrorless compact system camera as they're selling plenty of DSLRs and compact cameras.

However, a Canon patent for an EF lens adaptor suggests that they're thinking about entering the CSC market. Of course the adapter could be for people who want to use Canon lenses on existing mirrorless cameras such as the Sony-NEX and Olympus Pen series. Even so, this is the first patent we've seen that suggests Canon could be thinking about a mirrorless camera system.
