When the sun's out us Brits pack the car up with buckets, spades, the dog and family members and head to the beach. But as well as eating ice cream and playing the odd game of cricket or rounders take some time out to take a few beach photos. It doesn't even have to be a gloriously sunny day for photography either as waves crashing against the sea wall will look just as good as a family snap on the front.
Your Samsung Smart NX camera and a zoom lens will be ideal for some great shots. Consider taking a tripod for longer exposures of the sea lapping against the beach.
Portraits of your family having fun on the beach are something to have a go at, try to capture them in a candid way rather than having them grin at the camera all the time for something a little different. If light is too harsh try moving the beach brolly to cover them or use the built-in flash on most Smart NX cameras to get rid of harsh facial shadows.
Keep you background clear to avoid it being distracting, and make sure you check for bits of rubbish that can be washed in by the sea as this can ruin a shot. Silhouette photography can work well when it gets to evening time, and this is where having a tripod will come in handy again for longer exposures as it gets dark. The sensor in Smart NX cameras will be able to cope well in low light, letting minimal noise creep into the shot.
The best thing to do is to experiment. Have a go at photographing things from different angles to see what works best, and play around with settings too as a lot of bright sand can deceive the sensor. You might need to adjust your white balance settings to accommodate for this.
