Web developer
We are looking for a talented web developer to become an integral member of our small web development team, where you can make a big difference and be rewarded accordingly. You should be self motivated and keep abreast of the latest web developments and technologies. You will be working on a range of our successful existing products, while having the passion to develop new projects and help drive our business forward.

Extensive experience in the following required:

  • Database Driven Websites using PHP/MySQL
  • Writing valid XHTML and CSS
  • User Friendly Implementation / Good Design Practice
  • Javascript / AJAX
  • MySQL admin, query and performance optimisation
  • Web 2.0 ideals / CMS
  • Photoshop / Design skills
  • Search Engine Optimisation
  • Modern Social Network Methodologies

Experience in any of the following desirable:

  • Apache webserver admin and performance optimisation
  • General Unix / Linux admin
  • Server/Website Security and Vulnerability
  • Commercial Awareness

We are offering a chance for someone to create a really enjoyable and challenging role which is a great step into publishing. It's the ideal training ground for anyone wishing to develop in web with opportunities to also learn both photographic and additional web skills.

Hours, Salary, location and applications

Working hours:
Full time with a standard 37.5 hour week. The usual office hours of 9-5.30 apply, although we do have a degree of flexibility for the right person. This is an office based role, please do not apply if you want to work remotely.

We have a casual dress-code and use computers fitted with dual monitors to make your life easier. Our state of the art offices are based in Shireoaks, near Worksop and are easily accessible by train from Sheffield and the A1 / M1 motorway network. The premises have free secure parking and a stylish wireless Internet cafeteria.

Available as a permanent or temporary position with freelance or contract opportunities are also available.  Salary is negotiable and dependent on experience - opportunities are excellent. Please include your expectations in your application.

Location: Magezine Publishing is at The Turbine, Shireoaks Triangle Business Park, Coach Crescent, Shireoaks, Worksop, S81 8AP. Situated at the junction of the A57 Worksop by-pass and Shireoaks Road, 4kms (2.5 miles) north west of Worksop Town Centre, 9 kms (5.5 miles) west of the A1 and 10.5 kms (6.5 miles) east of M1 Junction 31.

Nearest train station: Shireoaks.

I've changed the wording to make it more in keeping with how it is a benefit. If you've ever worked with two monitors you'll know how useful it actually is!
