PowetmatBased on principles of magnetic induction the Powermat products eliminate the need for multiple charges, power supplies and power sockets when charging equipment. You can charge your products by simply placing them into covers designed by Powermat and laying them on the charger.

Not only do you remove all the cables that would usually be visible in your home it also charges as fast as if they were plugged in individually.

According to Powermat's website: "When a Powermat-enabled device is placed on the mat, a "handshake" process synchronises the mat with the receiver and electric power is generated to meet the specific energy needs of the device. Our first product line wirelessly charges multiple hand-held devices concurrently: perfect for home, office and travel usage."

The covers, which have receivers embedded within them can fit many products including digital cameras, portable GPS units, laptops and some mobile phones.

No prices are available yet but Powermat products will be shipping throughout 2009.
