Dust and humidity, not to mention air currents, are the natural enemies of telescope tubes, so it pays to protect them with a cover such as Baader TurboFilm.

It is a monomer film that Widescreen centres suppliers say they found after testing more than 200 different samples using a Zeiss autocollimator. The supplier also stresses that the material is not Mylar based.

What TurboFilm provides is a perfect cover, protection for your telescope without reducing the optical quality of the latter's performance. Placed over the end of any tube, it gives your expensive optical equipment that added safety margin for which we all search.

This film is used in German Science Institutes as an optical membrane for nuclear and particle physics experiments. Baader say, "The basic substrate has been further refined and homogenised by a proprietary annealing process that was developed exclusively by us. Due to these treatments TurbFilm attains perfect homogeneity and performs equal to a 1/10 wave plane parallel optical window.  It has the lowest wedge error of any existing optical window."

Turbofilm is supplied as a clear film in rolls of 1.27 metres by 0.51 metres, and costs 30 a roll.
