Sealife Land and Sea digital camera range announced -
Underwater digital cameras are far less common than their surface equivalents. A few manufacturers offer specialist housings to provide limited underwater capabilities but for the serious diver these will often not meet requirements.
The Sealife cameras company have announced the worlds first dedicated digital dive cameras. The only digital camera specifically designed for use underwater.
The Reefmaster Digital system can be expanded to include the powerful external flash for greater coverage, close up lenses and accessories. The system will be available in two models, the DC200 & DC100.

The DC200 is depth tested to 60m and comes complete with NiMH rechargeable batteries and charger, power cable, MGI Photo Suite software, USB cable, video cable, quick guide and instruction manual, plus soft case for the inner camera and is priced at 499.99.
The DC100 is depth tested to 30m includes MGI Photo Suite, USB Cable, video cable, quick guide and instruction manual plus a soft case for the inner camear and is priced at 399.99.

The press release states the Reefmaster Digital is 'Built by divers, for divers', offering a 1.3 megapixel sensor with 2x digital zoom. It has three modes operation, two of which take into account unique aspects of underwater photography. These are listed below as described in the press release.
'Sea' Mode
In this mode, the shutter speed and aperture adjustments also help compensate for the low light conditions common in underwater photography.
'External Flash' Mode
The on-camera flash help illuminate objects well below the surface, but for photographers who wish to produce more professional results, the system is compatible with Sealife's External Flash unit. No sync cord is necessary, because the External Flash is a slave unit activated via the on-camera flash. To prevent early activation, users set the camera to the 'External Flash' mode, which deactivates the digital pre-flash.
'Land' Mode
The ReefMaster Digital offers a separate option mode for use on land. Simply remove the camera from its clear waterproof housing and set it to 'Land' mode. This setting allows the Reefmaster Digital to function as a traditional digital camera.
