Sigma announce 20-40mm f/2.8 EX Aspherical lens -

The lens, designed for digital SLR cameras and 35mm SLRs, has minimum focus distance of 30cm at all focal lengths and maximum magnification is 1:4.6.
Its construction incorporates aspherical lenses in the front group and rear lens group to minimize distortion, astigmatism and spherical aberration, while a removable petal shaped hood is provided to prevent flare.
The lens is equipped with a DF (Dual Focus) mechanism and also an IF (Inner Focus) system so it is easy to hold the lens during shooting, since the focusing ring does not rotate during auto focusing, but it provides adequate dampening of the focusing ring for manual focusing.
It is available for Sigma AF, Canon AF and Nikon AF D mount lenses from September 2001 and for Minolta AF D and Pentax AF lenses from mid October 2001. The expected retail price is 700.
