In a continual drive to capture the digital SLR lens market Sigma create another suitable model that, like all models can also work perfectly with 35mm cameras.
Using a digital SLR camera with a 1.5x magnification increase, the new 15-30mm is equivalent to a 22.5-45mm focal length range. It's an aspherical model that incorporates a hybrid aspherical lens in the front lens group to minimize distortion and astigmatism, and molded glass aspherical lens in the rear lens group to minimize spherical aberration. With an f/3.5-4.5 aperture range and a close focus of 30cm at all focal lengths.
It's equipped with dual focus mechanism and inner focusing system. It's easy to hold the lens, since the focusing ring does not rotate during auto focusing, and provides adequate torque of the focusing ring during manual focusing. A built in petal lens hood helps reduce flare and filters can be attached at the rear using a slide in gelatin filter holder.
The lens weighs 615g and is available in Sigma SA, Minolta, Nikon Pentax and Canon AF mounts.
Sigma's 15-30mm f/3.5-4.5 has a new mechanical design with a six groups zoom system to minimize astigmatism for all focal lengths and an eight blade aperture mechanism for better defined out of focus highlights.
It is in the shops now and has a retail price of 600.
