Socialmatic Polaroid Instagram Camera Announced

A new Socialmatic Polaroid Instagram camera, which we first reported on last year, is now set to be produced.

The camera will let users apply instagram filters to their photos, before then being able to print out their photo, or upload it to the internet using the Socialmatic's Wi-Fi capabilities.

Socialmatic has been granted the rights to develop a Polariod branded instant camera, but no designs or features have been finalised yet. Early concepts suggest that the camera could be shaped like the Instagram app icon, a slim square shape with rounded corners.

The agreement between C&A licensing, the owners of the rights to the Polaroid brand name, and Socialmatic also allows for other branded products to be produced, such as bags, lenses, filters and other camera accessories.

It is hoped that the camera will be available to buy in the first quarter of 2014.
