Press Release: Sony Digital Photo Frame

Now there are even more great ways to enjoy your digital photo collection or share those precious images with friends and family. Sony’s new digital photo frames are complemented by four compact new photo printers – all packed with advanced Sony technology for better-looking images with less fuss.

S-Frame digital photo frames
The elegantly-styled DPF-V900, DPF-V700 and DPF-D70 S-Frame Digital Photo Frames add a sleek, understated accent to any living room or office. To match their ultra-modern looks, they’re loaded with smart features to make viewing your precious photo collection even more fun.

With a resolution in excess of a million dots, the generously-sized 9in ultra-high resolution (WVGA) screen of the DPF-V900 displays photo-realistic images with superb contrast, detailing and colour reproduction. The DPF-V700 and DPF-D70 both offer a 7in screen size.

Each frame flatters any photo collection from the moment you slip in your camera’s memory card. While other frames can struggle with large photo files, the powerful Sony Bionz image processor inside the DPF-V900/V700 opens images of up to 100Mb in seconds for quick, effortless viewing.

The Bionz engine also powers a range of useful Auto Touch-up functions. It adds Red-eye Reduction, Skin Smoothing, Focus Correction and Exposure Correction that fine-tune images for simply beautiful results, with no need for a PC or editing software.

A smart orientation sensor in all models automatically flips images so they’re always displayed correctly - whether the frame has been positioned in portrait or landscape format.

It’s easy to transfer image files from a connected PC to the frame's internal memory with no software required. Alternatively, photos can be beamed wirelessly to the DPF-V900 and DPF-V700 from a camera phone using the optional DPPA-BT1 Bluetooth Adaptor. Also available, the DPF-V700BT is a convenient package that includes the DPF-V700 and DPPA-BT1.

The frame’s generous 512Mb memory offers space for up to 1,000 pictures (DPF-D70: 500 images). Large image files are automatically re-scaled for HD quality display while maximising album capacity. As soon as it’s switched on, each photo frame will automatically start playing a slideshow from images stored in its internal album, even if no camera memory card has been inserted.

The DPF-V900 and DPF-V700 also feature an HDMI output that connects to any HD Ready television for super-size slideshows – ideal if your camera doesn’t have an HD output. Photos look even better on any Bravia TV or display that supports PhotoTV HD for optimised still image viewing.

For the ultimate comfort and convenience in your living room, Bravia Sync allows Slideshows and other basic photo frame functions to be controlled from your Bravia TV’s remote control (NB: Spring 2008 models onwards).

Operation is as beautifully simple as the frame’s cool, uncluttered lines. Rather than fiddling with menus and switches, a touch of the View button is all that’s needed to access Index or Slideshow modes.

New Digital Photo Printers
Four beautifully compact new photo printers make it easier than ever to create lab-quality prints in moment, with no need for a PC or special skills. Styled to suit any contemporary interior, all four models feature a handy carry handle for maximum portability.

The DPP-FP95, DPP-FP85, DPP-FP75 and DPP-FP65 use Sony dye-sublimation technology to ensure sumptuous, long-lasting prints, free of the grain that affects inkjet printers. Printing speed is super-fast: DPP-FP75 and DPP-FP65 models deliver a 10 x 15cm postcard-sized photo in just over a minute, while the powerful Bionz processor and TruFast technology inside the DPP-FP95 and DPP-FP85 slashes print time further to just 45 seconds.

Operation is brilliantly simple. Just insert your camera’s memory card, view images on the large, clear LCD screen and make your selections guided by clear on-screen icons. The DPP-FP95 features a super-size Clear Photo LCD screen with adjustable tilt angle for even finer viewing of the smallest details.

At the press of a button, the DPP-FP75 and DPP-FP65 can automatically detect and remove red-eye from flash portraits to save more great images from the waste bin. The DPP-FP95 and DPP-FP85 add even more powerful, easy-to-use Auto Touch-up functions like Skin Smoothing, Focus Correction and Exposure Correction to add extra sparkle to your favourite shots.

A choice of print layout options makes it easy to create ID photos or print multiple images per sheet. The DPP-FP95 and DPP-FP85 go a stage further with a range of fun print options for creating personalised photo gifts. Add decorative stamps and frames, pick from a choice of creative filters or even arrange your photos into Scrapbooks with an authentic hand-made look.

The DPP-FP95 and DPP-FP85 are the first ever Sony photo printers to feature an HDMI output for direct connection to your HD Ready television. Big-screen images look even better with new BRAVIA TV sets that support PhotoTV HD for optimised viewing. Print functions on DPP-FP95 and DPP-FP85 models can also be controlled in comfort using your new BRAVIA or CEC-compatible TV’s remote control. Wireless printing from a camera phone is also possible via the optional DPPA-BT1 Bluetooth Adaptor.

Availability
The new Sony range of Digital Photo Frames and Photo Printers will be available across Europe from May 2008. SRPs have yet to be announced.

I was a little confused at first about how to upload images to the frame. You do not need a memory card into the photo frame, you can save images in the camera. Found that out the hard way, but the love of his appearance and works well. Sony DPF-D70 7-inch digital photo frame 5 is the best image quality I've seen the frame. It's night and day better than the previous image. The border is clean, and the frame seems very smooth. The only complaint would be 8 inches above 7 if you plan to copy the images on the camera.
