Sony launch two new printers -
The DPP-MP1, is the worlds smallest and lightest dye sublimation printer and the DPP-SV88 photo printer features a built-in CD-R/RW drive.
Weighing less than 500g, including battery and paper tray, the miniature DPP-MP1 dye-sublimation printer can be used with either the supplied AC adapter or an optional battery pack.
Despite its miniature size, the printer offers various interface options, including USB and Memory Stick. Printing on to durable business card-size paper, made popular by a variety of current devices, the DPP-MP1 creates full colour borderless prints in less than 90 seconds. The printer is supplied with paper tray, AC adapter, USB cable and test printing pack. Paper is offered in packs of 24.
The new DPP-SV88 features, for the first time, an integrated CD-R/RW drive. This feature allows digital photos to be stored on a CD-R or CD-RW, even without a computer, and enables users to make prints directly from the CD-Mavicas 8cm CD-R/CD-RW. Furthermore there is also inclusion of a Memory Stick drive for the transfer of images.
The supplied remote control of the DPP-SV88 enables operation of the printer by means of the display menu. Thanks to the built-in Video and S-Video inputs, the DPP-SV88 printer is also tailor-made for ambitious video enthusiasts. These inputs allow favourite scenes from holiday videos to be captured and printed on paper.
Like the other models in the Sony range, the DPP-SV88 employs Sony-developed dye-sublimation technology. Users can print directly from a Memory Stick or CD-R/RW and, by way of PC-Card adapter, the DPP-SV88 is also compatible with Compact Flash and Smart Media flash memories.
Photos can be printed with a resolution of 403x403dpi with either a matt or a gloss finish. The DPP-SV88 produces a 10x15cm photograph in around 90 seconds.
The DPP-SV88 is compatible with all conventional operating systems.
The DPP-SV88 and DPP-MP1 will be available respectively in the UK from the end of January and February 2002.
