Manufacturers often give products names just to give customers some idea what the product is designed for. The example here is that Stealth call their charcoal-colour kit ‘Urban’ and the green-colour kit ‘Rural’. It does not mean, however, the urban kit can’t be worn in the country or vice versa. Personally, I prefer the charcoal look which is seen here.
Stealth Gear Trousers 2: Performance and features
My test trousers were Large fit, 32in inside leg and they were just about perfect in terms of fit. A pair of optional braces were supplied and I tried these as well as the belt option.
These trousers are not over-trousers as such although there is enough room if it is so cold that you need to wear thermal underwear.
As I said, fit was very good and so too was comfort with plenty of room to bend down, stretch and maneuver without any tightness.
Where with the smock I spent a short while taking out the removable padding, with the trousers I left the knee padding in place because I expected to do some groveling on the ground. This was just as well and the padding made life more comfortable on several occasions.
The generous supply of pockets was welcome. I love the security of zippable pockets and there are four here to stash away items of value. The two large, expandable pockets are large enough for lenses, filters and suchlike but fully laden the contents can press against the leg.
In terms of keeping my legs warm, no problem at all in this respect. Two zippable vents help regulate temperature and these I used several times to cool down. One thing I would say is that the trousers are very efficient but whether you are happy travelling a long way with them on is a personal decision. If you are driving, you will not have to use the car’s heating such is the trousers effectiveness. Also, as I am bit of a fidget I think I would prefer to put them on once I got to my destination – obviously this depends on the journey length among other considerations.
In sum, the price is attractive for a pair of trousers of such quality, performance and versatility.
Stealth Gear Extreme Urban Photographers Trousers 2: Verdict
If you are in the situation that you must get the shot come hell or high water, you will find that Stealth Gear Extreme Urban Photographer clothing and accessories will undoubtedly help you to deliver.
Comfortable, protective, warm and versatile, there is no denying that these trousers rate highly in terms of value for money. I know it is a simple thing, but I found the knee padding really useful and the high back did stop any welcome draughts.
