Susan Graber (and 3000 kids) will photograph the Queen on Sunday - In a unique Buckingham Palace photo-shoot London-based photographer Susan Graber will hand out 3,000 single use cameras to children and ask them to help her take pictures of the Queen (and themselves) at a special garden party on Sunday June 25th.
Graber talked Calumet and Fuji into providing 3,000 single use cameras plus the loan of over £5,000 worth of photo-kit to enable her to shoot the event – with help from the children themselves.
Explained Susan: “My friend Peter Orton, who helped to bring Bob the Builder to the TV screen, phoned me one day to say he had dreamt that Bob was going to go and wish Her Majesty a happy birthday at the palace. That gave him the idea that lots of other characters like Postman Pat, Thomas The Tank Engine and Mary Poppins should be there too.
The palace loved the idea and agreed to host a party for 3000 kids on Sunday. I was asked to photograph the event”
Harry Potter author J.K Rowling will be there and popular playwright David Wood has written a special script for a live show featuring actors and TV celebrities, including Jonathan Ross, who will portray some of Britain’s best-loved children’s characters.
The BBC will screen the extravaganza live at 6pm .
Calumet’s head of marketing Chris West said: “We thought this was a really great idea and we have worked with Fuji, to help Susan provide single use cameras for the kids plus a full range of pro equipment for her use from our Drummond Street showroom.”
