Take a View closing date fast approaching - Could you be the UK’s Landscape Photographer of the Year for 2010?

Press Release:
Entry for the fourth annual Take a view - Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards closes on 15th July, so now is the time to visit the website and upload your pictures to see if you can win the prestigious title ‘Landscape Photographer of the Year 2010’ and the top prize of £10,000.
Unlike many other photographic competitions, ‘Take a view’ celebrates the United Kingdom only, offering photographers worldwide the opportunity to showcase their images of this richly diverse country. The competition is open to everyone and you can enter up to 15 photographs of the UK’s landscape across the four categories:
- Classic view is the category for landscape photography in its purist form; sweeping views that capture the beauty and splendour of the UK in one image.
- Living the view is the category for images of people interacting with the outdoors – working or playing in the UK landscape.
- Your view allows the entrants to express what the UK landscape means to them through photography. It is a way to comment on the way we treat our landscapes and a chance to provide a new way of looking at our environment.
- Urban view is a new category for 2010. With almost 80% of the UK population living in built-up areas, the landscapes that we connect with on a day-to-day basis are increasingly of an urban nature. No less beautiful than natural landscapes, we are searching for those images that highlight the photographic variety to be found in our towns and cities.
The 2010 Awards are being held in association with Network Rail and Natural England, the nature conservation agency, and to celebrate this relationship there are two Special Awards offered this year. The Network Rail ‘Lines in the Landscape Award’ will be for the best image of Britain’s rail network and the Natural England ‘Landscape on your doorstep’ Award aims to highlight the fact that all landscapes matter and to increase awareness of the value and variety of our local landscapes.
An exhibition of over one hundred winning and commended entries will be held at the National Theatre in London from 22nd November 2010 and these pictures will also appear in a stunning coffee table book by AA Publishing.
All entries to the Awards must be uploaded via the Take a View competition website, and the closing date is 15th July 2010. Entry fees apply. Full terms and conditions can be found on the site.
