The Widescreen Centre have put together a 99 telescope kit for young and budding astronomy enthusiasts.

Many youngsters express an interest in star gazing, but parents are often loathed to spend money on a telescope that could end up in the attic in just a few weeks.

This economical telescope starter pack for children aged between 8 and 12 could be the answer. It comprises a Helios Mercury 607 60mm refracting telescope, which is supplied complete with an alt-azimuth mount, fitted to an aluminium tripod with accessory tray. A 5 x 24 Finderscope, along with two eyepieces - 20mm and 8mm focal length - and a 2x Barlow lens that will turn the above into 10mm and 4mm focal lengths respectively.

As an added bonus you also receive a 'Mars' t-shirts for free (while stocks last), that features a photo of the red planet on an all-black background and normally sells for 14.00.
