The submissions deadline for the highly prestigious Photographers Awards competition has been extended so that entrants now have until midnight on 11th April to submit their work online. (Entry fees will increase by 15% during the extension period).
As always, the competition is open to Full and Provisional Members of the Association of Photographers and for 2010 we have introduced a range of brand new categories (across Commissioned and Non-Commissioned work) including Innovation which recognises disciplines such as CGI and moving image.
In addition, in a radical departure from the customary format, we have included a non-Member category, Best Commercial Use of Photography, open specifically to agencies and publishers.
A full list of this year’s categories is below:
- Commissioned Advertising
- Commissioned Design
- Commissioned Editorial
- Commissioned Documentary
- Non-Commissioned Body
- Non-Commissioned Environment
- Non-Commissioned Object Innovation
- Best Commercial Use of Photography - Advertising

Judging will take place from May to July and entries will be judged by a panel of respected industry professionals, overseen by a Chairman. The judges will, of course, be looking for images that convey beauty, creativity, technical skill and originality and all entrants will have the opportunity to win Best in Category.
The winners will be announced in October 2010 when all the selected work will be showcased in the exhibition and the Awards Book. The selected entrants will also have an extensive presence on the Awards
