The countdown has begun for entries to the seventh Times Young Photographer of the Year competition, in association with Nikon UK, which closes on Saturday 10th May 2008.
The competition seeks to recognise the talents of young photographers and offer a head start in the industry with the sought after prize of a six month paid contract at The Times. Also, for the first time, a 12-page colour supplement will be published in June, announcing the winner with their first interview, and showcasing the runner-up entries.
With the six previous winners all having gone on to top jobs in the industry as well as many of the runners up, the benefits of winning such a unique opportunity are immeasurable.
Claudia Armstrong, Communications Manager at Nikon UK comments: “Nikon UK is proud to be able to support young photographers in developing and honing their skills. We know that there is a wealth of talent out there, and we hope that this initiative will help to encourage and inspire a passion for photographic excellence.”
Claire Myerscough, Development Director of Times Media adds, “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Nikon on this multi-platform project which will be a powerful way of engaging with our younger readers.”
Entries are to be submitted by Saturday 10th May, online, via website.
