Tokina has announced two new lenses for Digital SLRs at CP+ 2013, the first is a high-performance full-frame telephoto zoom lens with shake reduction mechanism, and the second an ultra wide-angle zoom lens for DX (crop) sensor cameras, giving the equivalent of 18-42mm in 35mm terms.

      As an longtime committed owner of the 12-24mm version, please Tokina, explain to me why this should attract me to change...? I see no technical difference (outside of the additional (2??) mm of additional focal length.

      i totally agree. the 12-24mm is my favourite lens. it has hardly been off my D300s since i bought it nearly a year ago.
      the extra 2mm will not entice me to trade-up.

      Were they to have produced this in an f2.8 version I would have upgraded like a shot (after seeing some example images) but this...????

      Yes. They will gain new users but there is nothing here for existing users whatsoever.
