8X DVD drive
Transcend has launched the world's thinnest portabe CD / DVD writer.

The 8X slim portable CD / DVD writer is just 13.9mm high, and is currently the thinnest drive of its kind on the market.

The drive has been designed to compliment the ever growing market of notebooks that don't feature a built in disk drive. This CD / DVD writer provides a slim and stylish solution designed to enhance the Ultrabook user experience.

The drive draws its power from the computer's USB drive, and so can be used anywhere, any time. The CD/DVD writer comes bundled with a full-featured copy of the powerful media writing software CyberLink® Power2Go, and also includes a bonus 30-day trial version of CyberLink's MediaShow. With these easy-to-use software tools, users can not only burn music, data, video and even bootable discs in a variety of CD and DVD formats, including CD-R/RW, DVD±R, DVD±RW, DVD±R DL, and DVD-RAM, but also compile, arrange, and produce media files with a simple and straightforward software interface.

Transcend's Slim CD/DVD writer is fully compatible with Windows 7 and also supports Windows Vista/XP and Mac OS, allowing seamless operation across all major operating systems. Offering up to 8X DVD and 24X CD write speeds, plus support for the dual layer recordable DVD media formats, the CD/DVD writer is currently available for a suggested price of US$59 and is backed by a two-year limited warranty.
