Press release: Transcend T.Photo 710

Transcend, an international leader in flash memory products, announced its entry into the digital photo frame market with the new T.photo 710, which combines a stylish design with a brilliant high-resolution 7in TFT flat-panel display. The T.photo 710 can showcase all of your favourite photos with background music, is highly configurable, has 1Gb of internal memory, and is appropriate for display in your living room, bedroom or office - just about anywhere you would normally put a picture frame or clock.

Thinner design for compact convenience
Transcend's T.photo 710 is adorned with an elegant black frame and gold inlay which gives it a classic, timeless look. The T.photo's total depth is only 28mm, which is thinner than most similar products on the market. Its compact dimensions and clean, simple styling make it perfect for putting on a table or mounting on the wall of your room or office, no matter what the decor.

7in high-resolution widescreen TFT display
The T.photo 710 is equipped with a 7in high-resolution (480 x 234) widescreen TFT LCD. The standard portrait-size dimensions and rotation functions allow flawless display of either landscape photos or vertical portraits. T.photo 710 automatically calculates the best way to display photos based on the information within each digital image, and will preserve the original aspect ratio of your pictures. Thanks to its large, extra-bright screen, all your favourite photos can be brilliantly displayed, one after another in just one simple picture frame for everyone in your living room to see. It's finally time to abandon conventional picture frames that clutter precious wall and desk space.

Slideshows with background music
Set the mood with ambient background music. The T.photo 710 supports digital camera JPG, BMP and Motion-JPG formats, and you can choose to view photos one at a time, in slideshow view, or tiled thumbnail view - all with background audio from its built-in speakers. You can even plug-in your favourite pair of headphones and use the T.photo as an MP3 player.

Built-in multi-card reader and USB host connector
The T.photo 710 makes it easy to view pictures right after you take them with your digital camera. It features a multi-card reader that instantly shows all pictures on SD cards (SDHC/SD), MMC cards, MS cards, and CF cards as soon as you plug them in. Even if you use a cell phone to take pictures, you can still view them on the T.photo using an SD adapter for microSD and miniSD cards, or a MS adapter for MS Duo, MS PRO Duo and M2 cards. You can also use the T.photo as a card reader to attach to your PC. On top of that, the USB host connector allows you to plug-in USB flash drives. Once connected, the T.photo will automatically find and display all pictures and music available on the flash drive without having to press a single button! Sharing your pictures has never been so easy or convenient.

Remote control and hidden IR receiver
To allow convenient operation from a distance, T.photo 710 provides a slim, easy-to-use remote control. The remote gives you the option of selecting pictures to display from the T.photo's onboard memory, flash media cards, or a USB flash drive, and also allows you to control its background music no matter what photo viewing mode you are in. Just sit back and enjoy your photos and music without having to get up and press buttons on the frame itself. In addition, Transcend's designers have hidden the T.photo's IR receiver so it appears more like a traditional picture frame. The invisible IR receiver has great reception, so you can use the remote at a distance.

Mark special dates on your digital calendar
When you're not viewing full-screen photos, the T.photo can also be a handsome desktop clock/calendar. The Clock and Calendar mode displays a photo or slideshow of your choice on one half of the screen, while showing an attractive digital clock and monthly calendar on the other half. The calendar allows you to mark important days and give you alarm reminders, such as a loved one's birthday. The T.photo also lets you to set custom MP3 alarm clock sounds so you can wake up to your favourite song in the morning. During holidays like Christmas, New Year's and Valentine's Day, you can even choose special themes for your pictures.

Transcend has spent countless design and R&D resources on creating the T.photo 710, as it represents Transcend's debut into the digital photo frame arena. If you're looking to add a bit of fashion to your living room, bedroom, or office and show off your picture collection at the same time, be assured that the T.photo 710 offers exceptional quality, features and value.

Are they having a laugh with the resolution?
It will display about 1% of the detail of a digital photo!!!

I know that many cheap frames use resolutions that low, but for 84 I'd want more like 1500x1000.

I'm hoping someone releases a decent resolution, battery powered digital photo frame with a CF slot sometime in the near future as it would be really great for showing people my photos on ... I think I'll be holding my breath for a very long time if companies continue releasing screens with 0.1 megapixel panels !
