In recognition of its overall quality, Hasselblad’s outstanding magazine for professional photographers, Victor by Hasselblad, has been awarded a gold medal in the B2C trade category of the Best of Corporate Publishing Awards 2008, Europe’s largest competition for corporate publications and generally considered to be the Oscars of corporate publishing. The award is even more impressive in light of this year’s competition, which comprised submissions from a record 670 registered titles at 298 companies, and joins the gold medal the magazine won at the Sappi Printer of the Year Awards 2007 as the Best Printed Product in the Magazines category.
A delighted Philip Boissevain, marketing director of Hasselblad, comments: “Right from the initial concept of the magazine, we worked hard with our publisher, Center of Service GmbH in Hamburg, to ensure that every aspect of Victor by Hasselblad – the size, print quality, editorial content and obviously the photographic content – ideally matched our objectives of setting a new standard in photographic publications and of showcasing the amazing photographs shot by Hasselblad customers. That the publication has now been awarded a BCP gold medal is a great endorsement of our decision to launch Victor as a large-format publication that reflects the quality of our camera systems, and recognition of the fact that we’ve consistently maintained the same high standards we set ourselves in the first issue in September 2006.
In delivering their verdict, the BCP Awards jury could hardly have been more fulsome in its praise for Victor by Hasselblad: "Every conceivable aspect that constitutes excellence in a publication is clearly visible in the magazine Victor. The publication is a new media highlight which, in the jury's opinion, could rapidly develop into a collector's item by virtue of its opulence.
Victor by Hasselblad is published four times a year around the world in seven different languages. The combination of the best possible quality paper, sophisticated printing processes for the large format of the magazine and superb photography makes every issue an exceptional visual experience and guarantees the ‘Wow!’ factor.
The editorial contents deal extensively with people and stories of importance in the world of photography. Across some 80 pages, Victor by Hasselblad offers its readers superlative photographic art shot on Hasselblad camera systems by the world's best photographers, provides well researched and informative articles on the most important developments in the trade market and also delivers more lifestyle-oriented pieces for the Hasselblad community.
