National event a ‘big draw’ for Wacom - Cartoonist Patrick Blower to hold master classes at ‘The Big Draw’ using a Wacom Cintiq 12WX.
Wacom today announces that it will team up with Patrick Blower, political cartoonist, at ‘Drawing on Life’, a free three-day festival at Wellcome Collection and University College London from 26-28 September. The event launches The Big Draw 2008, a month of activities across the UK encouraging people to draw, sketch and paint.
On Saturday 27th September, visitors to the Drawing on Life festival will get the chance to try out a Wacom tablet; there will a mixture of Cintiq 12WX, Intuos3 and Bamboo tablets available. Additionally, Patrick will hold hourly master classes at UCL on caricature, showing visitors how to draw cartoons. All pictures drawn on the day can be printed out and entered into a competition to win a Bamboo Fun pen tablet.
The Big Draw is a national series of events organised by educational charity Campaign for Drawing, which aims to get the whole nation sketching, drawing and painting. During the month of October, over 1000 venues across the country, ranging from museums to scout huts, will host events encouraging people to get drawing.
Patrick Blower is an alumnus of UCL and was the political cartoonist for the London Evening Standard for six years. Recently his ‘Live Draw’ work has been commissioned and used by the BBC on the Ten O’Clock News and also appears on the Telegraph.co.uk every Friday.
Guy Martin, Wacom’s area sales manager UK and Ireland commented: “This event perfectly fits to our brand promise. We are delighted to support Patrick’s initiative. The Cintiq 12WX, Intuos3 and Bamboo tablets will be there for anyone to try out. Patrick’s master classes will provide a simple and fun introduction to our technology, which enables people to express their creativity and individuality.”
The award winning Bamboo range of pen tablets is aimed at amateur creatives and consumers, providing an enhanced and creative way of using a computer at home or work.
The Cintiq 12WX combines the small size and flexibility of a normal pen tablet with the convenience of an interactive pen display, allowing direct pen-on-screen drawing, painting and sketching.
The Intuos3 is a series of ten pen tablets in standard, oversize and wide sizes aimed at digital imaging professionals and enthusiasts. Each tablet provides advanced functionality for improved workflow and creativity.
