Zenfolio 1

In this day and age of instant messaging, tweeting, and texting it is surprising how much you and your business can benefit from the human interactions you get at a trade show. Trade shows give you the opportunity to learn, network, find inspiration, and get great discounts on new products. They’re also a good place to spot the newest trends within the photography industry and meet representatives from companies whose products and services can make your life much easier.

One such company that tops this list is Zenfolio. Though based in the US they make their way to major trade shows in the UK, including Focus on Imaging and SWPP, to interact with photographers there. Their unique offering, designed specifically for all levels of photographers, includes fully customizable websites that come with so many features visitors were visibly shocked when they stopped by their stand at SWPP.

For £100 customers get full websites that include client proofing, marketing tools, integrated SEO, and unlimited storage for photos and HD video streaming. An integrated blog and built in e-commerce, featuring hundreds of products from professional labs including OVI, are also part of the package that had many asking "How can you offer all this for just £100?"

Stand visitor Andrew C. had this to say about Zenfolio: "I have a small but growing photography business and I’ve known for a while that I need my own website. But it just seemed too large and complicated a task so I haven't yet done it. When I stopped by the Zenfolio booth I wasn't sure what to expect. I spoke with one of their helpful Zennies who gave me an excellent overview of the point-and-click page design and e-commerce tools. Once I saw how easy everything works, I was sold."

In addition to interacting with companies like Zenfolio, trade shows are also a great place to find new inspiration. In fact, with so many photography powerhouses in one place, it’s hard not to be inspired. Archibald Photography summed up why they love trade shows this way:

"We find trade shows invaluable for gaining an insight into the photographic industry and staying on top of latest trends in albums, framing, and new photographic gear and software. Some people think this can be done on the Internet without leaving the office but don't underestimate the benefit of a face-to-face interaction with a supplier. Being able to touch and feel new product samples, test a camera for yourself or demo a software product while having a representative there in person to direct all your questions to is a great opportunity. We find the end of the day brings a chance to unwind and develop business contacts with other like-minded professionals resulting in us returning to the office buzzing with ideas and enthusiasm."

If you’re ready to attend a trade show, Focus on Imaging is coming to Birmingham 3-6 March 2013. Zenfolio will be there (Stand D30) to demo their product and will also be offering excellent deals on new accounts for stand visitors.
