75 Portraits: Lighting and Posing Techniques for Portrait Photographers is a handy book for anyone who needs inspiration in their portrait shots.
Each double page spread is about a different posing concept. These range from the classic James Dean style posing, right through to more out there poses such as Tropical Eden. There are a whole load of different poses, ranging from those for kids involving costumes and lollipops, to those more grown up and sophisticated, such as moody black and white.
The book is also good for themed poses, such as poses for people with different professions, such as cyclists and musicians.
On each double page spread, there are a couple of pictures of the assignment set, along with a diagram of how the shoot was set up, and the brief that was given for the shoot. Photographer Hernan Rodriguez talks us through the concept behind each shoot, and how he gained the effect, quoting the camera settings and any tricks that enables him to gain the effect.
This book is specialised, but the chances are that there will be at least a few ideas in here that will really help you out if you're stuck for inspiration. This book will certainly make a good edition to your library if you are a portrait photographer.
