Underwater photographer, Alex Kilbride, set himself the challenge of driving and diving across the US over a three year period. This 192 page hardback is the result of the incredible 100,000 mile journey and is a stunning visual record of the fascinating underwater world.
From a photography technique point of view you can forget this book. I gathered Alex used Kodak film, ISO100 speed and there's a photo of him with a tripod and that's about it.
But from a jaw-dropping point-of-view you'll be bowled over by the photographs. Here we see some of the most beautiful, and hideous looking sea-life, along with a collection of stuff that's fallen overboard, including a dentist's chair. Each photo is accompanied by an extended and very detailed caption including subject whereabouts and the journey there. Reading this book helps you get to know the author and the physical challenges he was faced with. You'll also end up knowing a lot more about our underwater world when you've read the entertaining pages.
