Steve's a well known figure in the Photoshop illustration world and his books and magazine articles often provide you with step by step guides to tackling design projects. Here he takes a different approach which allows him space to discuss many more ideas for designs, but means you have to have an understanding of the basics of Photoshop to recreate any of the ideas. The book covers the principles of design such as composition of elements and choosing the appropriate font, and then goes on to show you how to recreate posters designs advertising treatments and much more.
The layout of the book is refreshing, easy to follow and the shortcuts are colour coded so it's easier to follow the directions if your are a Mac or PC user. Steve writes in a non patronising, clear way and his illustration ideas are excellent, one reason why his work is seen in national newspapers and magazines across the globe.
If design is something that appeals and you want to get your hands dirty this is the book you should own, but make sure you've done a refresher in Photoshop first or you will fall at the first hurdle.
