Flash Photography is a detailed book that covers studio and location techniques for digital photographers.

Covered in detail is using various different flash methods, and making sure that you have all the avenues for flash covered.

The book begins by talking us through the importance of lighting in our photos. How you use flash can greatly effect the outcome of your photo, and author Barry Staver talks us through clearly how different types of lighting and flash can affect your image.

Characteristics of light, such as hardness and softness can be difficult to grasp, and the book does a good job of explaining how to meter and use the histogram correctly. Staver compares the different types of flash to the three bears, speedlite being the smallest and studio strobes being the largest.

We are talked through how to best utilise each of these flash sizes, with lots of examples of the equipment that can be used and the photography that can be produced by different types of flash.

If you are new to photography and the world of flash, then this book is a great place to start learning about what is available to you and what can be achieved with flash as a photographer.
